The Hockey Alberta U11AA Hockey League is pleased to announce the winners of Players of the Month for the month of December – Kade Simard, Elijah Smitke and Christopher Alvarez. The league is also proud to announce the winner of the Community Player of the Month, Jamie Paterson.
Community Player of the Month
Jamie Paterson – Northwest Hockey Club
Jamie Paterson has been a very busy student-athlete so far this season. He has been highly involved in the recruitment of his team’s sponsors; he helped organize a team ‘look-book’ of players and coaches to deliver to businesses in hopes of attracting them as sponsors. Over the holiday break, he personally hand-delivered thank you cards to each of the ones he had success with. He also spent his holidays volunteering with teammates and other players stocking and sorting shelves at the local food bank. Jamie is a fantastic leader, not only for his team, but for anyone, as he is not afraid to ask for help when he needs it. He realizes the importance of academics and has been proactive in the classes he feels he needs help with by hiring a tutor. He has great initiative, never complains and puts the hard work in, both in school and in hockey!
Players of the Month
North Yellow Division – Kade Simard (Three Rivers Athletic Club – F)
Kade has 80 points so far this season. With 18 goals and 14 assists in his six (6) December games, he is the top offensive leader on his team. Kade has become a true leader for the TRAC Wolverines U11 AA Team and shows up to each and every game and practice ready to work hard on the ice. As team captain, he sets an example for effort given.
North Blue Division – Elijah Smitke (SEERA Stealth – F)
Elijah has 14 points in his team’s 14 games. With eight (8) goals and six (6) assists, his coaching staff say he is an excellent player and leader on the ice, especially as a nine-year-old! Elijah is the sole first-year forward on his team, and you would never be able to tell with the amount of skill he already shows.
South Division – Christopher Alvarez (Airdrie Lightning – D)
Christopher has 32 points in his teams 15 games. With 21 goals and 10 assists, he consistently shows his team what it means to be hard-working. Christopher is the leading goal-scorer on his team and continues to be a model player for the rest of the Lightning!
