The Hockey Alberta U11AA Hockey League is pleased to announce the first ever winners of Players of the Month for the month of October – Jace Haaland, Beckett Korobanik and Abigail MacDonald. The league is also proud to announce the winner of the Community Player of the Month, Skyler Gilbert.
Community Player of the Month
Skyler Gilbert – Grande Prairie
As October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Skyler and his family spearheaded a breast cancer awareness initiative for the U11 AA Grande Prairie Storm. This included buying all his teammates pink tape and recounting his family’s experience with breast cancer. His story and passion made a large impact on his team!
Players of the Month
South Division – Jace Haaland (Olds Grizzlys – F)
Jace has 13 points over his teams’ first five (5) games. With nine (9) goals and four (4) assists, he leads his Olds team in points. His coach describes him as a “force to be reckoned with,” and a player who shows up to each game ready to give it his best effort.
North Blue Division – Beckett Korobanik (Whitemud West – F)
Beckett has 15 points in his first five (5) league games. With eight (8) goals and seven (7) assists, he has become quite a leader for the Whitemud West team. His team staff says he is one of the hardest workers on the ice and loves to push himself to be better every game.
North Yellow Division – Abigail MacDonald (Grande Prairie – F/D)
Abigail has four (4) points in her first three (3) games. With two (2) goals and two (2) assists, her team staff say she’s shown excellent versatility in trying multiple positions over their first few games and that she’s an excellent leader and teammate, and her efforts exceed what the scoresheet shows.
